Michelle Obama is making headlines these past few days. One unfortunate reason is due to her announcement that she will NOT be running for President of the United States.
Yes, that means when the Obama’s leave the White House this year we shouldn’t expect to see them back, unless something changes in the air. While delivering the opening keynote at SXSW, the First Lady announced, “I will not run for president.” She sited the main reason as being her two daughters, Sasha and Malia, which caused her to get teary eyed.
“I’ve got these two young people at home. Being the daughters of a president . . . not so easy. They handled it with grace and with poise, but enough. I see myself in them. I see that little girl on the Southside that was told she couldn’t…I will miss that as First Lady, but I’m going to keep doing it for the rest of my life…you don’t have to be president to do wonderful things.”
But in other news, Michelle also dropped her single, ‘This is For My Girls” (which is available on iTunes), this week and it is making headlines. The charity single and a women empowerment anthem, that focuses on educating and raising awareness about inequalities.
It also has a pretty impressive line up: Glee’s Lea Michele, Kelly Clarkson, Missy Elliott, Zendaya, Janelle Monae, Kelly Rowland, Jadagrace and Beyonce protégées Chloe & Halle.
Check out the track about and applaud our First Lady for being able to do amazing things outside of Presidency.
