So, if you haven’t heard, hackers have gotten their hands on Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, the latest installment to the series, and are holding it for ransom, or Disney will have their film leaked online.

As first reported by Deadline and The Hollywood Reporter, the hackers are demanding “an enormous amount of money,” and to be paid in Bitcoin, since its harder to trace. Mind you there is no concrete evidence to prove they have the film.
Hackers are saying if their demands aren’t met, they will release the movie in chunks.
Disney, however, isn’t looking to pay up. Instead they have chosen to work with the FBI.
Pirates of the Caribbean isn’t scheduled to drop until next Friday and will the the fifth release of the lucrative franchise. Seriously, the series has been a huge cash cow for Disney, so anything that could jeopardize the box office numbers is an issue.
This is different but can’t say it hasn’t been done before. Similar situation happened with Orange is the New Black and since Netflix refused to pay up, hackers released the show’s upcoming season.
Damn, Disney. Time’s ticking.
