NME just dropped a very revealing interview with Zayn Malik and everyone needs to read this. Some topics he’s covered, his basically non existent relationship with One Direction, former producer Naughty Boy and their very public falling out.
Here’s the drop:
Basically, Zayn has lost connection with all but Liam and that is still a little rocky. “I’m still probably the closest to Liam [Payne]…We talk on the phone. He congratulated me on my single. Which was nice. I congratulated him on his Brit Award.” However, he has yet to have seen Payne since he proceeded with his solo career.
As for the other members? Well, he has yet to hear from them.”“I tried to have contact but nobody’s reached out. So… whatever.” He was even asked if he thought the boys could hate him? “Who knows.”
Let’s rewind to last year. Remember when he had that Twitter argument with producer, Naughty Boy who he met with after going solo. Naughty Boy took the time to tweet” “you fat joke stop pretending we’re friends no one knows you.” DAMN! But Zayn had nothing negative to say about him.
“With Naughty Boy, look, we just didn’t get on. And we’ll leave it at that.”
The argument is said to be about Zayn’s song being leaked on the argument but Naughty Boy hinted at it being something a little more than that.
Everything seemed to work out for the best though. Since then Zayn hooked up with Frank Ocean‘s producer, James “Malay” Ho, on his debut album Mind of Mine, which is scheduled to drop tomorrow. “Malay is all about the music,” Zayn had nothing but praise for the man. Why wouldn’t he though, the duo reached number one on Hot 100 with the single “Pillowtalk.”
“He can tell you what the screw is in a microphone that gives it that tinny sound. He’s that kind of guy.”
